Osteopathy and Paediatrics
Osteopaths have been trained to identify, examine and treat musculoskeletal stress and strain patterns in patients of all ages. Every baby's delivery process is different and during this process your baby is subjected to an enormous amount of stress which can cause strains within your baby's body and make them suffer varying degrees of discomfort.
A baby may present to an osteopath with their parent explaining that they are:be distressed, unsettled, restless or irritable
have suckling or feeding difficulties
have sleeping difficulties
have a miss shaped head or have difficulties turning their head to one side
Babies may also present to an osteopath with symptoms that may be suggestive of reflux or colic such as:Drawing their knees to their chest
Arching their back
Spitting up or Vomiting
Constantly wanting to be held or comforted.
Osteopaths are trained to recognize these strain patterns and release them to help make your baby feel more comfortable.
Stresses and strains in the body can result from common childhood and adolescent conditions and complaints. Your Osteopath will work in conjunction with other health professionals, such as your GP, maternal and child health nurse, paediatrician or specific specialist to help relieve these stresses and strains within the body.
